I was first introduced to one of the most beautiful parts of California - the High Sierras, camping with my family as a kid. Lake Almanor is a man-made lake near Mt. Lassen, in Plumas County, surrounded by forests and trout-filled streams.
Just outside of the little town of Chester, there is a surprisingly excellent restaurant called The Black Forest. Yum!
